WINTERNATIONALS 2009 WILLOWBANK

PhilB will be trackside over the weekend providing live feeds on the JRR site over the weekend, so stay tuned there for all the latest pit side reports.

Jim Read Racing on the Road to Willowbank

The Jim Read Racing Auto One Billview Snap-on Fuchs Wynns Top Fuel dragsters of Phil Read and Martin Stamatis are all prepared and again ready to blast Queensland’s Willowbank Raceway for this weekend’s annual Winternationals due to be held June 4-7.

After qualifying 1 and 2 at the recent Nitro Champs in Sydney with Read’s 4.56 and Stamatis’ 4.62, the team’s confidence has been restored that they have still got the quickest cars in the country, and despite going out in the first and second rounds are positive that a visit to the winner’s podium won’t be far away again for the team.

With the national points chase wrapped up already heading into the Winternationals event by Phil Lamattina, team Crew Chief Bruce Read comments: “It has been a roller coaster ride for everybody this season where consistency has proved the key, and it is a full credit to Phil, Angelo and Theo and the entire Lamattina crew for their pending Championship win, and I congratulate them in advance for getting the number 1 plate.

So we are looking forward to next season now, and with some changes on our annual racing calendar, all teams are hoping that the Top Fuel show will have less challenges to contend with like the aggressive heat we all had to battle out this season, and that consistent and quick times will be had by all again, and we are really looking forward to the new schedule”.

“We are all recovered from the recent Nitro Champs now and are heading to the Winters with a full compliment of engines back together in the trailer after some long hours put in by our hard working crew to make the short 5-week turn around. We have also disassembled and been right through the fuel system in Phil’s car after we had some fuel pump issues at the last meeting, and we’re looking forward to seeing what the changes we have made prove on the readout boards at the Winters”.

Martin Stamatis also added that he is looking forward to next season, and can’t wait for things to fire up again in Sydney from September 11. He is also wrapped that he will get to race in front of his home crowd in Perth twice this season after a change in the Top Fuel race calendar sees the Top Fuellers race in Perth on both December 4 and 5, and also January 8 and 9 now as well.

With the end of the season just days away now at the final round Winternationals, Jim Read Racing would like to thank all of their crew, sponsors and fans who have supported the team this season, and also to all of the other teams out there who make the show what it is. Regular Jim Read Racing updates will be loaded onto the team’s website this weekend live from the Winternationals, www.jimreadracing.com.au
